Running the Americas
In 2015, Jamie Ramsay decided it would be a good idea to run 17,000km from Vancouver in Canada to Buenos Aires in Argentina.
After 12 years working in the City he decided to change the direction in which he was heading. To justifying leaving his job he put together an expedition that combined all of his passions and would take him on a truly inspirational journey.
The 17,000km solo and unsupported run started in Canada and headed south through the USA, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and ended in Argentina.
Some of the challenges Jamie had to overcome include: 700km of the Atacama Desert, crossing The Andes (4830m), navigating his way around the Darien Gap, coping with extreme dehydration and Giardiasis.
It took 367 running days to complete, averaging 46.5km a day.
To keep his essential devices charged, Jamie took a powergorilla and solargorilla portable charger in his kit bag.
